It was a summary day. When I asked my mum "when are soniue grandma and grandpa coming to our house?" She said "they are coming this afternoon and the are sleeping in the living room ". They looked Funny to me. They had on funny clothes. Suddenly they looked back at me and said. "Don't ster at us!" We laughed!

The next day my sister and I started tickling my grandma and grandmpa to wake them up. We wanted to go to the pack and shop with them

Museum Trip

Last week teem 2 had a wonderful day because we went to the Auckland Museum. We wanted to learn about Matariki which is the Maori new year. When we got there, we went to the Kai room and had our morning tea and room 26 went upstairs. After that we explored the museum. I saw a Moa and an enormous T. rex and there was glass on the ground that we could stand on. Then we went to the volcano room and we touched a volcano. We went into a room and we watched a volcano erupting in Auckland. The room was moving and the light went on and off. We all got ta moko on our faces. The girls had to get a ruru and the boys had to get a pekapeka or a kaka or a kiwi and Whaea Jo told us to go to the other side. We got an ipu and we put our hand in the ipu. It was fun because it felt lovely, slimey, and squishy - just like playdoh.

 

My Weekend

On Saturday morning me and my mum and my little brother and dad went to my cousins football at G.I. After that we came back from the football. Later we brought some ice-cream.

What makes a kite fly?

There are four forces that affect a kite when it is flying. They are gravity, lift, thrust, and drag.

Gravity is the force that keeps us on the ground. The heavier a kite is the harder it is to fly.

Lift is the force pushing the kite off the ground. Lift happens when air moves over the top of the kite at a faster speed than the air that is moving under the bottom of the kite.

The force that makes a kite move through the air is called thrust. Thrust happens with a kite when it is held in one place by its string, while the wind flows around the kite.

As air flows over the kite the wind gets held back a little by the roughness of the fabric. This friction is called drag.

Magical Matariki

What is Matariki?

Matariki is a group of seven stars. The seven stars disappear in late April. They come back in early June and it is the new year. The seven stars are also named the 7 sisters. When the crops grow the stars are brightly shining. We gather seafood. We celebrate Matariki in lots of different ways. We catch some kai moana. We fly and make kites. The people also weave flax.

Using repeated addition to solve x and problems. Understanding that repeated addition is the same as multiplication.

We have been learning to make, name, and recognise wholes, halves, third parts, fourth parts and fifth parts out of play dough.

My Holiday Highlight

 Last week my family and cousins and Aunite had a BBQ at my house. First my dad said “ who wants a burger?” So this boy named Alex came to my dad said “go and get some  bread in the house. Alex went to get the burger inside. Finally it was dark so we've went inside but my cousin and Auntie were outside. I felt happy because it was lovely.

 

Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful Queen. She lived in a castle faraway. The Queen wished for a baby girl. Her wish came true. She called the baby Snow White. Snow White's mother died and her dad married an Evil Queen. The Queen said "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" The mirror said you are the most beautiful. The Queen came back. She said "mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?" The mirror said "Snow White is". Suddenly the Evil Queen was angry. The Evil Queen said to the Huntsman "would you get Snow Whites heart?" The Huntsman went to the woods and saw Snow White. He was about to kill her but he didn't do it. The Queen went to the mirror again "mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?" The mirror said Snow White is. The Evil Queen came up with a plan. She dressed up as an old Woman and knocked on the door of the cottage where Snow White was living with the 7 dwarfs. Snow White was doing something. She heard a knock on the door. She saw an old lady knocking on the door. The old lady came inside and gave her a poison apple. Snow White died. When the 7 dwarfs came home they saw Snow White had died. They put Snow White in a glass coffin. A prince kissed Snow White on the cheek and they lived happily ever after.

I have been learning how many more to round numbers to the nearest tidy 10

 

Writing a Letter

We picked a name out of a box and wrote a letter to that friend. Today we lined up and put our letters in the mailbox. After we put our Letters in the mail box we came back to class.

Melinda Szymanik Visits Room 24

Yesterday morning Milnda Szymanik came to visit Room 24. She came because she is an Author of children,s books and she wanted to share her books with us. First Melinda Szymanik read a story to Miss Peck's and Miss Gaston's class. . After that Melinda  came to Room 24 she read her book, The Were- Nana. Lastly Mlinda  read the book with No pictures. I enjoyed the visit because it was lovely. 

Making Jell

Yesterday in the morning Room 24  started making the green colour of traffic light Jell. First Miss szymanik boiled the hot water. Next taoro put the Jell crystals until they were dissolved. After that miss szymanki put the Jell in the fridge to set. We did the same thing with the orange and the green Jell. The Jell felt wobbly. 

Point England Picnic

Last Friday Pt England school had a picnic at the beach. First Room 24 went past the park and sat on the grass. Next Mr Burt said a karakia. Then I put my bag away. After that I played with the sand. Finally Room 24 ate our lunch. I felt joyful because I played with Jade E.
